Born in the Czech Republic and raised in the United States, Katerina Burianova grew up between two cultures, shaping her perspective and approach to design from an early age. She pursued her childhood dream of becoming an architect at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, gaining experience in both historic architecture and high-end residential design before beginning her professional career in Chicago.
In 2017, Katerina returned to Southern California and joined Morris Skenderian & Associates in Laguna Beach, where she developed a deep understanding of coastal residential architecture and the unique design and permitting complexities of the community. After years of working on homes throughout Laguna Beach and the surrounding coastal communities, she founded Katerina Burianova Architecture in 2023.
Katerina remains closely connected to Laguna Beach through both her work and love of the Southern California coast. Outside the studio, she can often be found practicing yoga, hiking along the coast, or swimming in the ocean.
